Testimonials

Stories of Grass to Grace

Nasike Legupa is a young girl from Samburu County whose early life was marked by loss, neglect, and extreme vulnerability. At just ten years old, Nasike narrowly escaped forced Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and an arranged marriage by fleeing her home in the early hours of the morning. Her life changed when she was rescued and taken to Suguta Girls Rescue Centre, a safe haven for girls fleeing FGM. It was there that the Shared Values Foundation team met Nasike during a community visit. Through the support of SVF and its partners, Nasike was enrolled at Mary Immaculate Girls Boarding School in Mweiga. Today, Nasike is thriving in school, settled, and hopeful. She dreams of becoming a lawyer—driven by a desire to protect other girls from the injustices she escaped.
